Poly Gel Class July 2026

Join our class July 21st at 1 pm to 6 pm. The class is free and great for those learning how to do their own nails at home. Approx. 1 hour sessions, first-come, first-served.

Come learn how to apply tips, prep, applying poly gel.

Steps:

1.  Prep your nails by pushing back your cuticles. Use a sanding band to rough up the nails. 
2. Find tips that match side wall to side wall at the edge and glue with normal nail glue. Cut and shape to size. 
3. Where the tip is applied to the natural nail, there is a little lip. Use the sanding band again to smooth down to create a natural seam. 
4. Dehydrate and use primer making sure to dry in between for 30 seconds. 
5. Apply a gel base coat and cure under the lamp. 60 seconds for an LED, and 90 seconds for a UV lamp. 
6. Squeeze a small bead of poly gel onto the nail. Dip the brush into slip solution, pat and spread to take shape on the nail. Cure under the lamp. 
7. Repeat for the rest of the fingers. Once the hand is finished, wipe with alcohol to remove any stickiness. 
8. File and shape to preferred length. If the poly gel is thicker or not smooth, the sanding band can be used again to fix mistakes. Make sure to buffer before polishing.
9. Repeat on the other side. 

Tips: 

1.  Don't have a drill? No worries, use a nail file or buffer to rough the top of the nail as prep. 
2. Don't have slip solution? Using minimum 70% isopropyl alcohol works the same way. Adding a touch of acetone can help reduce stickiness as well. 
3. Pushing cuticles and the first round of sanding the nails can be done to both nails, however prepping with tips, dehydrating, and priming should be done one hand at a time. 
4. A poly gel brush usually has a flat dull knife on the back. This helps grab product from the tube to the nail. If too much product is on the nail it can help with that as well. 
5. Don't want any longer? skip the tips and do the rest of steps to apply on your nails. 
6. What to do after the nails are grown out? File the polish off and using a sanding band, remove any lifting and to buff the nail growth. Then from step 4 do the process over to apply product on the new growth.
