Builder Gel Nail Class July 2026

Free class! Learn how to apply builder gel on the natural nails. First-come, first-served. 

Come learn how to prep and apply the builder gel. 

What should I bring? We recommend color to apply after the builder gel. If not, top coat will be applied. If you are having a hard time with your cat eye, bring it in! We can show you how to apply it as well!

Steps: 

1. Push back cuticle and sand the natural nails to prep. This helps create a rough area for the nails to stick. Also to clean up any cuticle that is stuck on the nails. 
2. Apply dehydrator and acid free primer. Then apply a base gel coat to the nails and do a full cure in the gel lamp (LED 60 seconds, 90-120 seconds UV lamp.)
3. Only doing 1 or 2 nails first, apply a bead of builder gel depending on the builder gel, the product will move to fill the nail. Help the product move into the corners by using a liner brush. Once even, do a full cure of 60 seconds. 
4. Repeat 3rd step again until all nails are finished. 
5. If doing French tips, designs right on builder, or polish is not smooth, wipe the nail with alcohol to allow the product to sit even. If the product is not even or thicker then wanting, wipe off the nail with alcohol and use a sanding band to make it even/thinner. Make sure to wipe with alcohol again from the dust. We can also reshape or file rough edges during this step as well. 
   
6. Apply polish and designs. Apply top coat to finish and making sure to do a full cure for the top coat. 
7. Finished!

Recommendations: 

• Doing 1 to 2 nails will allow even application. We recommend 1 nail at a time for beginners. 
• Doing one hand and polishing is the best way to do builder due to the sticky layer left by builder can make it hard to do the other hand at the same time. 
• The builder gel is hot? Take the hand out and flip over to allow cooling. Then put hand back in the lamp. 
• Instead of doing 60 seconds for each nail, you can do 30 second flash cures in the lamp. just make sure to do a full cure (60 seconds LED, 90 to 120 seconds UV) when the whole hand is done. 
• If learning that you want a thicker apex/nails, builder can be done in layers. Doing thin layers can also help with heat spikes.
